The interaction between biodiversity and finance has attracted an increasing amount of attention on a global scale. This course aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to this topic including the scientific foundation, economic mechanism and current practice of biodiversity and finance. The scientific foundation of biodiversity will be explored with several essential concepts. Economic mechanism will highlight the horizon on which biodiversity and finance interacts. Current financial sector activities, key metrics and innovative funding schemes will be introduced by industry pioneers. Overall, this program will be led by a strong, multi-disciplinary team of teachers from research, field work and the financial sector.
The course is designed for practitioners in the financial sector who want to understand the foundations and practice of biodiversity and finance. Participants have a graduate degree and several years of working experience.
You will be familiar with the concept of Biodiversity, current status, key drivers, and essential Biodiversity variables and Ecosystem Services.
You understand the theoretical underpinnings of Biodiversity in Economics, the concept of a Public Good, and how it relates to measures to address externalities.
You know the various interactions between Biodiversity and Finance.
You discuss the most current metrics and investment tools in Biodiversity Finance.
